UVAVU: WordNet Similarity and Lexical Patterns for Semantic Relation Classification
نویسندگان
چکیده
We built a system for task 4 of SemEval 2007. The goal of the system is the verification of seven semantic relations: cause-effect, instrument-agency, product-producer, origin-entity, tool-theme, part-whole, and contentcontainer. The data-set for the evaluation of this task consisted of 140 training sentences and 70 test sentences per relation. An example sentence of the cause-effect relation is the following: “He derives great joy and happiness from cycling.” The two arguments in this sentence have been pre-annotated with WordNet 3.0 senses. The system should classify this example as positive. Our system consists of two parallel components, indicated by the blue and yellow boxes in the figure on the right. One component is based on WordNet similarity measures implemented in the Perl package WordNet::Similarity. The other uses lexical pattern methods on Google and the Waterloo Multi-Text System (WMTS) System Overview

Automatic Construction of Persian ICT WordNet using Princeton WordNet
WordNet is a large lexical database of English language, in which, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs are grouped into sets of cognitive synonyms (synsets). Each synset expresses a distinct concept. Synsets are interlinked by both semantic and lexical relations. WordNet is essentially used for word sense disambiguation, information retrieval, and text translation. In this paper, we propose s...
متن کاملCombining Relational and Attributional Similarity for Semantic Relation Classification
We combine relational and attributional similarity for the task of identifying instances of semantic relations, such as PRODUCT-PRODUCER and ORIGINENTITY, between nominals in text. We use no pre-existing lexical resources, thus simulating a realistic real-world situation, where the coverage of any such resource is limited. Instead, we mine the Web to automatically extract patterns (verbs, prepo...
متن کاملLexical Resources and Semantic Similarity for Affective Evaluative Expressions Generation
This paper presents resources and functionalities for the selection of affective evaluative terms. An affective hierarchy as an extension of the WordNet-Affect lexical database was developed in the first place. The second phase was the development of a semantic similarity function, acquired automatically in an unsupervised way from a large corpus of texts that allows us to put into relation con...

متن کاملAnalytical Tools for Visualisation of Interactions in Online E-learning Activities on Lms and Semantic Similarity Measures on Text
This paper aims to build an analytical tools system for Learning Management Systems (LMS) that will aid and support teachers and administrators to understand and analyse interaction patterns and knowledge constructions of the participants involved in ongoing online interactions. Most LMS commercial or open source software does not include any tools for comprehensive access tracking and log anal...
